LESSON OUTLINE:

God’s Missionary Plan In The Old Testament

God created man, (Genesis 1:27), to have fellowship with Him, and to serve Him. After God had driven man from the Garden of Eden, their way became wicked, (Genesis 6:6). Yet, God was merciful and He could not let go His Creature. God now used Abraham as the first missionary on earth, (Genesis 12:1-3). Abraham was moving from one city to another, witnessing the Word of God and through him, God set a missionary plan in the Old Testament, (Genesis 14:13). Through Abraham, the Hebrew nation was founded, (Galatians 3:7-8; Exodus 19:4-6; Numbers 9:14), (Adoption).

Jesus As A Missionary

In the Old Testament, we see God the Father really made known. But God’s missionary plan on earth was to send His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. When Jesus Christ came, He made the whole earth to know that He is a Missionary, (John 3:17; John 6:57; Galatians 4:4). It was a planned work, designed by the Father to fulfill His Plan on Earth. The purpose of God was to send His Son, Jesus Christ, to save the world, and Jesus Christ knowing why He was sent said in John 4:34, “My meat is to do the Will of Him that sent me to finish it, (work). And at the end of His Mission, He also instructed us to do the same, (1 Corinthians 2:1-16; Philipians 2:5). Jesus also ministered to the heathen, like the woman in Samaria, (Luke 10:2). The Lord of the Harvest, that He would send forth labourers into His Harvest.

Conclusion

Jesus gave the disciples power, and sent them out with a Charge to preach the Gospel, heal the sick with His Presence, always going with them. So also are all bonafide Christians charged with the task of mission which involves witnessing, teaching and making of disciples.
